XCII/ 6th Graders

1.) What great things can you share about 7th grade STEMS with the 6th graders?

To describe the 7th grade STEMS program within one blog post is slightly impossible with the amount of time I have. All I can say now though is: You get to learn better then at a regular middle school, you have a small amount of homework, you can make video games, and you can do fun activities (STEM projects).

I don't want to ruin/spoil the surprise for what this is like so, you'll just have to wait and experience it yourself.

XCI/ Math Blocks and Math Sports

Unfortunately, my team's game didn't make it to the finals. Math Blocks and Math Sports made it to the finals so, I am going to say what I enjoy about their games.

Math Blocks
This game has very good animations and I love the idea of making Tetris into a math game. This game is great to practice your math facts or even learn how to start your math facts. Not to mention the hidden animations.

Math Sports
This game is fantastic. One of my friends is the captain to this team and he is the hardest worker in our class for Flash. he did a great job on the game-play and the idea of using square roots is very unique and I give him extra props for that.

XC/ Fit During Summer

1.) How will you stay fit during this summer?

Well, ever since 5th grade I've been going into softball. So as usual I'll be doing softball. My first year was for one week, my second year was for two weeks, and this year will be for one month. If I keep this up I might be accepted into a real team and not training anymore. I also love volleyball so maybe I'll do that after softball is over this summer. I usually have nothing to do anyways but go on my laptop (when my friends are on too) or play with the neighborhood kids (when they are outside).

2.) Do you think you'll make a walking/running group?

No, I don't like running. If it's for bases, then yes. I just don't like running if it isn't for softball, volleyball, or flag football. So basically I only LIKE running if it is for one of my favorite sports.

3.) Will you join a sports team?

No, the softball I play if for practice meetings only. And you play with the other practice members. The real team members have to pay a lot of money (practice is free) and they stay for five hours each day instead of two (two hours is for practice).

But, maybe I'll try to join a youth/teen volleyball team over the summer. Or maybe a youth/teen flag football for girls. I don't really like playing on teams. I don't get along with other people like that (teamwork) very well.

LXXXIX/ Walk-A-Thon

1.) What did you volunteer for?

I really didn't volunteer for anything. I just got paired up with one of my classmates then the both of us were sent to the field/grass to go check off the BLUE lap cards. It was an easy job and we both ended up getting sunburn. (It still hurts!)

2.) How were you a leader?

After I was done with my job, I started to wander around the Walk-A-Thon. I dunked a few teacher in the dunk tank and hung out with my friends by the soccer game. I help some of the smaller kids by telling them positive things at these two games. (Dunk tank and Soccer game) I even gave a few kids some tickets so they could try.

The Walk-A-Thon was really fun and our school helped raise A LOT of money. I believe that we have enough money for PLENTY of bus fares for field trips in the near future for the whole school.
